ONE FROM THE TOWN HALL. THE OTHER FROM THE STREET. THIS IS HOW trenČIN BEGAN!

How do you choose the first two people to kick off a project honouring everyday heroes? We decided to start symbolically – FROM THE TOP and FROM THE BOTTOM.

On the one hand, Richard Rybníček, the mayor of Trenčín; on the other, Peter ‘Kofy’ Majzún, a seller and distributor of the magazine Nota bene and an amateur photographer.

Two people from completely different social backgrounds, recommended to us by the public themselves. One represents the city’s leadership; the other, the people we often overlook on the street.

And that was precisely our aim: to show that good deeds know no social status.

The trenČIN project symbolically began at the town hall, where both nominated two further people who, in their view, lift the spirits of others through their everyday actions.

This is how the first four links in the chain were formed. Each subsequent awardee then nominated someone else, and the imaginary chain of good deeds gradually began to spread across the whole of Trenčín.

Our ceremonial officers have been travelling along these four lines, seeking out the nominated people, reading out their nomination letters and presenting the awards.

No one knows in advance where the next nomination will take them. And that is precisely the magic of the whole project.

Because in trenČIN, it doesn’t matter where a person comes from, what they do for a living, or what their status is. The only thing that matters is what they do for others.
