Introducing the trenČIN project!
There are people whose importance cannot be expressed in numbers. They don’t have thousands of followers, they aren’t featured in the newspapers, and often they themselves have no idea how much of an impact they have on those around them. It is precisely these people that trenČIN is looking for – a project prepared for Trenčín 2026 by Czech artist Kateřina Šedá. It isn’t looking for grand gestures or extraordinary achievements. It celebrates small, everyday ACTS with a big impact.
So how do we look for them? Every day, four “ceremonial officers” take to the streets of Trenčín. That’s because you can’t sign up for the project. Each honoree nominates another person whose act they’ve noticed. After receiving their recognition, that person selects the next one, and the chain continues through the city. No one knows where it will lead us next. Gradually, a slightly different portrait of Trenčín emerges – the one created by people and by those who value one another.
And where will the entire chain ultimately lead? All the way to Trenčín Castle. That is where the project will culminate with a closing ceremony, at which – for once – the spotlight will not be on the powerful or the famous, but on ordinary people with an extraordinary influence on those around them.
