Jozef Ďuráči

Jožko Ďurác is not in Trenčín, and especially among folklore lovers, unknown personality. For years he collects and restores old, torn costumes and various artifacts related to folklore and the history of the simple, hardworking people. The garden of the house features a recently restored cross. We learn that similar monuments have a full house. A special place among them is the historical costumes, which Jojo exhibited several times in the castle.

The wife will offer us a garden refreshment and discuss her husband’s hobby. They met in a folklore file and although she no longer dances, he still performs. Their love of folklore was inherited by children and grandchildren. The whole family goes to folk festivals together.

The company in the garden also makes us a temperamental bitch Bela, who lacks only sheep to have someone to chase away. Gazda arrives in 20 minutes. Silly smile, hands like two shovels and gently up twisted beard. We recognize one of a bunch of jolly FS guys in it.

Jojo’s a son of a Soblah man. He graduated from agricultural school and also attended a shepherding course. He even taught students and old shepherds about shepherding. Here he listened to songs from all over Slovakia and admired the craft skills of ordinary people. From his early age, he saw the versatility of simple people who had to be able to build a house, repair clothes, produce crops, and keep farm animals. Traditional customs have been preserved in the family, and it is there that the roots of his love for folklore and ethnography that he has been doing for over 40 years.

Soblahovský sváček welcomes us, does not hesitate for a moment and writes nomination to his fellow pilgrim and folklorist Vlad.
