Eva Hudáková

The seat of the Association of Association of Disabled Associations in Bezrukova Street has been visited several times. In the entrance we were welcomed with a broad smile by the director Maria Vasková, whom we appreciated in May. I hardly recognized her because of her hair melted, but the smile was unmistakable. We were looking for her colleague Eva.

Eva Hudáková is a social work instructor. It helps its clients cope with everyday life. For example, it teaches them how to borrow a book in a library, to realize that it needs to be returned, or to understand how to search it between shelves. He knows exactly which of the clients has what interests. Interaction with the outside world is priceless and represents a small but important step forward for clients. For example, an overactive client who doesn’t sit anywhere has just listened to the window in the library and sat motionless like foam. The library visits became a regular ritual. This is how they experience the routine of everyday life.

While Eve was thinking about the names of those who were awarded to extend our imaginary chain, Mary invited us for coffee and a piece of talk. We talked about their work together, about life, and about the small big victories of their clients. Sometimes it is a success for those who are helped by them that their condition does not worsen or worsen more slowly.

Eva didn’t send us far. Just across the street, to the dining room of a neighboring elementary school to verify the old truth that a good neighbor is more than a distant family.
