I'm not involved in these things
Mrs Ildikó was initially hesitant about accepting the award, but the group of ladies who hosted coffee and cakes finally convinced her that she belonged to her right. However, Silvia, a colleague, assured her that she was given just as modest and inconspicuous people as she is and that it would be a shame to stop the chain of positive news that she received.
Ildikó is retired, but she is a churchwoman in St. Anna’s Chapel. It is the soul of a group of women who meet at prayers, church cleaning, trips together and at coffee. The ladies say that whoever takes over her as a churchwoman will have a high-level bar. The chapel is always tidy, full of flowers, and the joy is to look at its surroundings. The parish priest has a small snack every morning and coffee cookies come in handy for women from the group. She was an editor of a racing weekly in the former TOS before she retired and prepared the Parish letters for 25 years. He’s not a writer anymore, but he’s still reading books. At one time, she read more and more of the beautiful literature as well as scientific and encyclopedia publications.
Today she enjoys going on art, music, and spiritual trips with her friends. For example, they visited Santiago de Compostela and Fatima together.
And where did her Hungarian name Ildikó come from in Trencin? Her mother was from Trencin, but she and her brother were born in Budapest, where the family lived. Father was from Štúrovo. When the Slovak borders moved during the war, Mother returned to Trenčín with her children. Father was not allowed to see them until two years after the war ended.
I will try to ask her in Hungarian if she still knows this speech. Without hesitation, she answers in Hungarian that she still knows. Ladies around are in awe, they didn’t know he was speaking Hungarian. My colleague, Silvia, and I keep asking questions. We find she could answer German. Even that she never married.
Mrs Lydia, who nominated her and was present, turned to us with gratitude: “Okay, I nominated her. In all the years we’ve known each other, we had no idea! And now she has revealed so much!
Since we refused coffee and cookies, we got a candy ride from the church. We are very curious to see who will be nominated by Mrs Ildiko tomorrow.
