Basically, it does not dilute its homemade calvados. He won’t spoil it with water. He offers us, but we refuse. He doesn’t insist, but he’s giving us both a 59.9% sample of apples in liquid form. He will also add a memory of his grandfather, who also burned and gave him some advice on how to drink.

The nomination is discussed with his wife, Eva. We learn that they have an extraordinary neighbor across the street, including Eva. They’ve known each other since childhood for 60 years.
