What is it, what is it for? For me, difficult cases are when a mother dies from cancer and has four young children at home
Priest Paul Benko is a hospital chaplain, so you’ll first meet him at the hospital chapel of the faculty hospital or at the patient wards.
Few sacrifice their service as much as he does. Even though he is in his 70 ‘ s, he goes to the believer who needs him at any hour. At his age, he feels tired.
I have to take a break for at least a week and leave. This year, I was in spiritual exercises, and the priest explains. It adds that hospital chaplains from all over Slovakia have such meetings. He’s planning another week of rest in October.
The hospital chaplain goes to talk to patients, share their problems with them, answer questions if necessary, and provide for those who stand before the threshold of eternity.
For me, difficult cases are when a mother dies from cancer and has four young children at home. And I know she’s gonna leave them forever in a week, and she’s talking about moving. Although he knows that there is someone to care for children, it is very difficult to cope with the challenge of giving comfort. He realizes that Mom is irreplaceable to the children.
It is equally difficult to bear a situation in which a similar fate reaches a child.
I had this case, it’s been a while. The little boy had muscle atrophy and died at the age of 15. Parents were hard to bear, especially their father. He wondered why his son, who never hurt anyone, mentioned the priest. It’s hard to say anything in this situation.
A boy had such a beautiful, angelic face. I’ve been completely devastated for a week.
Paul Benko is trying to keep the body in shape. Even in old age, he exercises. He used to run and cycle, but now he chooses the lighter exercises that the body can handle.
