Joseph welcomed us to work. There’s something to drill around the house, in the garden near the parents’ house, in the field, in the mountain, and also in the elementary art school, where he works as a janitor. They’ve got the most jobs on holiday. But he didn’t even have to say anything, his hands and a guy’s grip were talking for everything.
You don’t want pumpkins? We can give you, and he offered the housekeeper between speaking and his daughter Katka telling us to make coffee.
Until he retired, he worked as a machine locksmith, and since he was very involved in culture, he later worked as a race club leader.
Joseph is slowly reaching the 80th, and he has spent 40 years in folklore in addition to his duties. Since his youth he has danced and sang in the folklore ensemble Družba and is still faithful to this, although he has been dancing with seniors since 2000. To make matters worse, he sings in other singing groups or choirs. It’s not a slow week when he’s not getting out. The closest ones with folklore are going to Terchová and Zuberec and singing Sihotiar to Bulgaria.
With folklore Joseph traveled almost all of Europe, from Bulgaria to Finland, from France to Hungary. They were still on tour in America, Idaho and Utah. They lived in Mormon families. They were invited to the international festival.
Well there were, those are humble people. They don’t drink, smoke or drink coffee.
When we appreciated Mr. Jozef Thunderman, he shook his shoulders surprisedly for not knowing why anyone appreciated him. When he said good – bye, he stroked his head worriedly because he had the task of figuring out who he appreciated by morning.
