We were at this address just recently. This time, however, we are not looking for a man but a young woman. We ring at the front door, and although in her voice she feels doubts, curiosity eventually wins and comes down. The award will affect her and gratefully accept her.
Jana has two sons. He and his husband take care of Matthew’s eight – year – old with Down syndrome. He says that he was a longing child, but they were not prepared for such a life situation, and sometimes it is very difficult. Matthew does not yet speak, but he adds with one breath that many families have much more difficulty. It is necessary to face this, although sometimes a person is sorry, especially in such situations, says Jana and wipes his tears.
Her biggest hobby is gardening. Behind the builders, they have land where he goes to draw new forces, but one eye always watches Matthew. He’s supposed to be a big rascal and like to run where he doesn’t. They stayed home today because of their rehabilitation, but otherwise they regularly drive him to a special school. He and his husband are doing their best to move forward, even after small steps. They are also members of the Down Syndrome Society, where they meet families who face similar challenges. They exchange experiences, counsel, and support each other in situations that are best understood by those who experience them themselves.
Although Jan rushes to see his son, he willingly writes the nomination for further awards. The last name doesn’t know, but we have no doubt that we will find it. Our trip continues to the Special elementary school of Internátná Vladimír Predmerský.
